A very special thanks to everyone who made this great day's fishing possible! Heres a few photos of a very memorable day spent on the RIver great Ouse chasing Pike, Zander, and Perch with top TV angler Mick Brown.
Last time Russ and Jeanette fished with Mick it was a cold spring day on a Lincolnshire gravel pit. This trip could not have been more different. They joined MIck on the River Great Ouse for a day's predator fishing aboard his boat.
The Norfolk Fens is a great place to fish - wide open landscapes enhance the dramatic skies on a bright autumn day like this .
Using an echo sounder aboard Mick's boat,The plan was to find the shoals of roach, the predators won't be far away. This might make the fishing sound easy, but it isn't. It's possible to travel for several miles without success - the Fens have miles of wide deep rivers. MIck fishes here frequently, but it was Russ' first time.
Starting during a misty dawn, and finishing at dusk sounds like plenty of time, but the day goes quickly when there's a frequent change of location and methods, such as using lures trolled behind the boat, and ledgering deadbaits
This Pike took a whole herring fished on the bottom in about 15 feet of water.
Mick is one of the UK's best known predator anglers, here he shows the
kind of form he's justly famous for - catching pike!

This Zander took a peice of Lamprey This Perch took a lure trolled behind the boat. A great way to catch! A big thanks to Jeanette for the photos...and for being in charge of the kettle!
