I'll admit the Pebley Res trip was a washout, but to be fair I wasn't to know they'd drained the water out to fill up the Chesterfield canal. A future visit is in order to where the water is - the Chesterfield Canal! But this visit to Dale Pond was brilliant. We both caught more than 20 fish, and check out the quality of the Rudd.

Another bad idea from Russ - a session at Pebley Res. We know its supposed to be a hard carp water, but the bream are supposed to be catchable. They weren't....some water might help though.

"C'mon" says Russ "Just one at session on the river before the season shuts". Bad idea cos when the sleet blows in with a gale force wind - your a mile from the car park. We got about an hours fishing in before we were forced to abandon the whole session. Roll on better weather.

I got my fishing comic from the newsagents as usual and found that there's a TWO PAGE SPREAD ALL ABOUT HATS! This is a definate 'must read' for all serious anglers, and if you can't decide which one to buy, then buy two. Then you'll be as warm as me, definately not cool.

Paul

It was great to have a wander round and get a bit of exercise and talk to other anglers, although it was pretty quiet. It was the best fishing session I've had so far this year - are you reading this, Paul?

Russ

Well, the snow finally melted and Old Two Hat's and I were off to the lake for a spot of stillwater fishing. It was freezing cold, and virtually deserted, although I did see a bivvy or two on the adjacent lake. If I had a hat I'd take it off to the guys who spent all night out there. Paul would take off both his hats, obviously. He assured me that he would give me some 'advice' regarding my tactics to get off to a good start this season. It will all be uploaded on video in due course, but let's just say next time I will doing what Frank Sinatra would have done. (my way).

Russ
